After receiving videotape evidence of safety violations from a consumer, investigators from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) conducted unannounced investigations at eight nail salons in Beaumont in October 2006. The investigators collected evidence of 86 violations, including the discovery of several hidden Credo blades. “The individual who shot the video of the salons used a hidden camera,” says TDLR Spokesman Patrick Shaughnessy. “I cannot tell you how it was hidden because we might want to do it ourselves and we don’t want to advertise the method.”

The moral of the story? Don’t cut corners – you never know who’s watching.
