Standard Labeling Laws Urged

ICMAD encourages consistency with federal legislation, not at individual state levels.

In an effort to control costs and streamline processes for small cosmetics companies, ICMAD recently issued a position paper warning against the dangers of passing state laws for labeling that are different from federal law. The paper states that "regulations of the FDA, the FDC, and the EPA already assure that cosmetics labeling will be informative and not misleading." The association encourages members to support this legislation, and to fight against laws that set up local regulations for cosmetic products.
