“She was a woman who embodied elegance and class who also loved to polish and take care of her nails,” says LaPierre Cosmetics founder Brandi Blocker of her mom.

“For years, my mom and I created many fond memories over a fresh bottle of nail polish,” says Brandi Blocker, founder of LaPierre Cosmetics. “Those were some of the moments when we would laugh, share memories, or just talk about anything.” After her mother, J.M. LaPierre was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2013, Blocker became her caregiver during her treatment and continued the manicuring tradition. “I would do mini-manicures, polish, or even clip and file my mom’s nails. She would smile as if that simple gesture had given her a moment of freedom from her reality.”

As a tribute to her mother, Blocker founded LaPierre Cosmetics, unveiling a line of long-lasting “four-free” lacquers featuring signature mocha engraved wooden lids. Sadly, LaPierre lost her battle with lung cancer on January 1, 2014. In her memory, LaPierre Cosmetics donates $1 to the Livestrong Foundation for every lacquer bottle sold, committing to help empower people in the cancer community by addressing unmet needs. “I miss my mom dearly; however, I still feel connected to her through the collection,” she says.
