As we closed this August issue, there were a few news items that were unable to be squeezed in because of space. Here, however, we’d like to give the abbreviated version.

The Beauty and Barber Supply Institute show in Las Vegas last month presented some interesting moments, among them what appeared to be a continued expansion of nail-oriented products. What at one time was a show largely for the dominant nail companies, we now find an increasing number of exhibitors devoting part of or their entire line to nail care products. And the curious aspect of the show was that much of the action seemed to center around these companies ... it was easy to pick up the impression that the interest is continuing in this growing industry of ours.

The fledging nail manufacturers association took another step forward during a meeting at the B.B.S.I. show. In a rather informal meeting, a name for the group was agreed upon, and plans were set into motion for a dinner meeting to present ideas to interested industry members. The name ... the United Nail Organization. Temporarily chaired by Larry Gaertner, the group hopes to stir up some interest during the Jack Sperling Show scheduled for next month, in an effort to raise issues and field response ... not the least of which is whether there is even a need for this association.
