“I got my personalized plates because I am very passionate about my career in nails,” says Breeann Christensen, a tech at Untamed Optionz in Ely, Nev., and one of many nail techs whose license plate proclaims her profession loud and clear. “It’s a conversation starter, it gets people’s attention, and they ask questions.”

Part symbol of pride, part advertisement on wheels, nail-related license plates are like mini mobile billboards. Entity Beauty creative director John Hauk has not one, but two personalized plates. “Nails are my life, so why not share that fact with the world?” he asks. “I can’t count the times strangers have approached me to ask about my license plates. No matter the exact question, they always leave with a smile on their face and my number in their pocket. Showing a little nail spirit is always good; using your license plate is just a small way of doing it.”
