Preferred media:  Watercolor paint

My Story: When I was 28, I had an existential crisis and bought a one-way ticket to Europe, where I travelled solo for seven months. While walking through museum after museum, something struck me at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and I decided I would come home and make portraits. When I came home from my trip, I started painting the cast of Seinfeld and other nostalgic characters, out of a desire to do something less serious. The world is filled with horrible things, so it’s nice to take a little breather and smile at a silly little watercolor portrait of Larry David or The Dude from The Big Lebowski.

Inspiration: I create when I’m happy, sad, angry, uninspired, whenever. I like to draw people because I have always found them more interesting than any other subject matter, and the fact that people are drawn to my little watercolors brings me happiness.

The intersection of nails and fine art: Nail art is an entirely different medium and on a very small scale. What works on paper, doesn’t really work on nails. That alone is a fun challenge.
