Unicorns Poop Glitter creates elaborate nail art gloves to transform drag queens into their fabulous, alternate personas. The brand’s creator, St. Petersburg, Fla.-based nail tech Vie Lette, was inspired to make the gloves by her brother, who performs in drag under the name Acid Betty.

“Acid Betty is bold, unapologetic, innovative, and unique,” Lette says. “It’s easy to gain inspiration from her use of colors, shapes, and the way she incorporates traditional mediums in non-traditional ways.”

Lette started the business in 2014 when several other drag clients requested an alternative to press-on nails, which are time-consuming, expensive, and can come off unexpectedly.

“Drag queens are typically full-time men, part-time women,” she says. “It’s quite cumbersome when in full drag to manage individual nails, glue them on, and pray the nails don’t pop off during a set. They hated the process of removing the nails, the leftover adhesive, and so on. Nail gloves have a much longer lifespan in the world of performance art.”

All gloves are handmade by Lette herself. For more information on the nail art gloves, go to www.unicornspoopglitter.com.
