Lady La’s Too Nail and Hair Salon in Highland, Mich., draws clients due to its unique location. Built in the LaFontaine Buick Pontiac GMC Cadillac dealership as a convenience to customers, it gets 95% of its clients from the dealership. Although only open for a few months, the salon already has repeat clients coming just for its services.

Because of its location, the salon ties its own marketing to car shoppers, offering incentives and packages for those who come in wanting to test drive or purchase a car. Male clients, 40% of the total, aren’t shy about sitting in front of a glass wall getting manicures and pedicures in plain view to those passing by. “They love it. They don’t hesitate at all,” says nail tech Lorrie Caskey.

Even though many car-repair customers are less than thrilled to be at the dealership, they usually come out of the salon happy. “If they are stuck here and there’s something wrong with their car that they’re not expecting, it actually takes the edge off because they get to come in and have services, chill out, relax, and forget about it,” says Caskey. “It’s actually a bonus for them.”
