Hello Gorgeous! is a mobile salon that gives free services to cancer patients and survivors. Started in South Bend, Ind., in 2006 by Kim and Michael Becker, the non-profit gives women going through chemotherapy treatment a “day of beauty.” This includes a mani/pedi, facial, massage, hair and wig consultation, and re-education on how to use beauty products to counter the effects of chemotherapy.

Because services are offered at no cost, Hello Gorgeous! relies on fundraisers, volunteers, and donations. The organization is accepting financial and product donations, and sponsorship by beauty companies. Kim Becker, also a hairdresser, says sponsoring companies can have their logos displayed on the mobile day spa.

Their goal is to only use professional products in order to encourage women to return to their salons. “We want to reconnect women with their nail techs,” Becker explains.

Although the organization usually services a 50-mile radius around South Bend, they’re making a six-week summer service tour throughout Indiana, stopping in 13 different cities. In addition, the Beckers hope to start affiliate programs in other cities nationwide and are looking for volunteer beauty professionals. Affiliates would start in a fixed salon until they can raise funds for a mobile salon.
