Who: Lee-Anne Baker-Smith, Barrie, Ontario-based international educational sales consultant for Creative Nail Design, member of Team Creative.

Believe it or not, the day we shot the cover, it was an amazing sunny day -- in February. We took the shoot outside for a change and used natural sunlight and shadows as accents for the red-hot nails.

What: NAILS photo shoot, photographed by Caesar Lima.

Where: Caesar Photo Studio, Calabasas, Calif.

When: Monday, February 11, 2002.

Why: To shoot the July cover of NAILS.

Double-threat: Lee-Anne did two sets of nails and one set of toe-nails when she came to Los Angeles to do a Nails cover shoot. For this month’s issue, we had her shape the acrylic nails to a slightly pointed ovalesque. Lee-Anne used Creative’s Retention + and Perfect Color Clear Powders over Velocity tips. She used three coats of Creative’s Tabloid, a great red with a slight orange tint. Next, Lee-Anne sat on the floor to give our model a pedicure. She applied the same color enamel to the toes.

Taking it to the streets: We literally stopped traffic during our shoot. Even though we shot outside Caesar’s studio on a quiet street, it just happened to be lunchtime, so the cars had to go around us.
