In September, nail technicians from around the world came to participate in Creative Nail Design’s motivational and hands-on event—Global Summit 2000. As a first-year attendee, I was excited about the program lineup, which included a wide array of both nail and non-nail focused speakers. You are always in for a few (good) surprises when it comes to a Creative event, and attendees of this year’s Global Summit were certainly not disappointed. From motivational speakers to hands-on technical sessions with Team Creative members Tom Bachik and Ketan Patel, more than 250 nail technicians from around the world participated in this year’s Global Summit. Nail techs also were able to choose from a variety of seminars to attend, including Louis Mattassi’s Buried Treasures class (on embellished enhancements), and Lee-Anne Baker Smith’s Cover Shot Nails class, to name a few.

Other events that took place during the three-day summit included a fashion show highlighting developments and trends throughout the 20th century and the fifth and final installment of the Alternative Nail Awards, which culminated in the naming of London’s Yukiko Fujii as the 2000 Grand Champion.

And what Creative event would be complete without an extravagant all-night party? Attendees of Global Summit ended their stay in Las Vegas at the Year of the Dragon party (costumers were encouraged), dancing the night away with Creative co-founder Jan Arnold and president John Heffner.
