Client Appreciation Day took on a new meaning in 1993 at Paradise Suite in Warren, N.J. The salon’s owners, Stacey Beer and Debra Marino, turned the event into an opportunity to help their community. “We sent an invitation about the event to all our clients — and our mailing list has 600 names on it,” says Beer. Typically, on this once-yearly special day, clients can book a half-hour massage, a regular manicure, a facial, or a half-body wrap free of charge. For 1993, in exchange for the services, clients brought in an item for a woman or a child at a local center for flattered women. “Sometimes you send out a mailing,” says Beer, “and you don’t know what the response will be. The overwhelming response to this event floored us. I have a full-size van and I literally could not fit all the donations into it.” The salon’s Client Appreciation Day has been held during December for the past three years.
