Nail tech Jessica Hoel knew she had a talent for photography. She once photographed a set of her gel pink-and-whites that went on to win NAILS’ 2009 Cover Tech Contest. Plus, she ran a photography blog and commenters kept telling her she should take photos professionally. So when she went scouting for the perfect place to open her nail studio in Belleville, Wash., she knew it would be a dream come true if the space could serve multiple functions — a gel nail studio, storage for the product line she distributes, a small classroom to teach, and, of course, that elusive photo studio. “When I found this space it was very exciting since it had two entrances. After a few very late nights of designing a perfect floor plan, I knew I’d have room for the photo studio and its own entrance. I hope someday to have some great ideas and maybe make new posters for our industry.”
