A licensed nail tech for five years, Missi Barry of Niles, Ohio, may be better known by her Etsy shop name: “Different Dimension.” Via the Etsy page — which currently has almost 1,000 positive shopper feedback ratings — Barry sells custom-blended indie nail polish. “One of the main reasons I started making polish was because I got so tired of all these amazing (primarily glitter) polishes being released only to be limited edition and discontinued right away or not obtainable for purchase by consumers unless at an unreasonable price,” Barry says.

She gathers inspiration from the things that interest her. For instance, shades Light It Up Blue and Puzzle Pieces were inspired by her 3-year-old autistic son, and 50% of the profits from those two polishes are donated to autismspeaks.org. Barry also makes custom nail polishes, created with one customer’s input and only one bottle of the color is made. “That’s not something you would ever get from a lot of other companies!” Barry says.
