Customer Service

Reader to Reader: How do you show your clients you are thankful for them?

Around the holidays it can be a good idea to show extra customer appreciation.

I appreciate all the loyalty of my clients these past 15 years, so I make sure each receives a small gift at the holidays. Periodically I send out cards noting my appreciation or might mix up some sugar scrub with their favorite scent as a little “just because” surprise.

Joy Moncrieff
Joy Lynn Nail Studio, Glendale, Ariz.

I usually mail out coupons for the holidays. Sometimes if I feel like I had a great visit with my client, I simply send a thank you card in the mail right after she leaves expressing my appreciation and adding a $5 off coupon for the next visit. This way we continue our close relationship and she knows how much I care.

Angie DeAngelo
Nails By Angie, DeLand, Fla.

I have a referral system for my clients as a thank you for their continued service. They can choose to either have their nails done at half price or get a free pedicure.

We give out scented lotion, pens, and a planner with our logo during Christmas. We also do a free haircut drawing every month. I give free nail art for birthdays too.

Rosemaree Welch

Every Saturday we have doughnuts, coffee, and juice available for our clients as a token of gratitude. I also do freebies now and then to surprise my regulars.

I gift my clients either cuticle oil or free upgrades on their birthday and on our anniversary.

Fierce Fingers by Heather, Pensacola, Fla.

I give random tiny gifts throughout the year. For the winter holiday season I have a basket of wrapped goodies that everyone can choose from.

Tania Rice
Certified Esthetics, Regina,

Saskatchewan, Canada We decorate our shop with colorful goodie bags filled with Aveda samples along with percentages or a dollar amount off of their next appointment. They love it and are happy to be carrying out a Christmas gift.

Shannon Bess
Shear Style, Beckley, W. Va.

We have the giveaways, coupons, raffles, and referral discounts. But nothing says “thank you for coming here” better than treating each and every customer in a way that makes them feel they are the most important customer you have. Being on time for their appointment, listening to their needs and preferences, providing superb service every single time without rushing or being sloppy, consistently offering a clean, inviting, professional environment, and making sure they know we care about them as people and not just as dollar signs.

Tami Perry
Beauty Garden, Ronkonkoma, N.Y.

I show my clients I am thankful for them by giving them free nail art on their birthdays, if they have to wait, or if I need them to switch an appointment. My clients are good to me as well!

Kristi Spencer
Bentley Hair Salon, Moline, Ill.

All my clients receive a free service for their birthday. There’s also a chance to win gifts by doing a drawing at least twice a year, usually around Thanksgiving or Christmas. I send them text messages and post on my business page simply expressing my gratitude.
