Mardi Gras is March 4, so unmask your talent and create crazy nails with all the glitter and embellishment you can dream up. Sherri Traweek of The Nail Asylum in Redlands, Calif., created these Mardi Gras-themed tips that are ready to party. “I was inspired by the history and old photos I saw of Mardi Gras, with masquerade balls and the elegant designs of the masks and costumes,” says Traweek. She created the nails with a clear hard gel along with beads and glitter for added enhancement. Traweek stuck to the traditional color palette of green, purple, and gold. The harlequin pattern is done using acrylic paint and gold leaf. She hand-painted masquerade masks on one nail while building the other mask out of acrylic. Be inspired by this bedazzling design and create nails as elaborate as Mardi Gras getups themselves.
