Blueprint of a First Year

Walk Like an Egyptian

Yes, I understand if you’re laughing out loud right now. Yes, that is me in the photo, and yes, I realize it’s not Halloween (although what a cool costume that would be — believe it or not, parts of it are actually made of acrylic).

That’s actually a photo of me taken at the Las Vegas Hair and Nails Conference (LVHNC). As a salon owner, I’m always looking for networking events like tradeshows, and, in this case, I’d agreed several months ago to be OPI technical specialist Michelle Sproat’s model for the tradeshow’s Egyptian-themed Fantasy Nail Art Competition on Sunday morning.

The competition experience was really cool, especially because Michelle won second place (Veteran Level) for those nails. You can check out close-ups of the nails and other photos from the show (including photos from Saturday, before I was sporting the Egyptian garb) in the Photo Gallery.

Oh, and this is a little off-topic, but I thought you’d want to know some exciting news: Dan, co-owner, will be coming back from Iraq on July 4, about two months ahead of schedule. I can’t wait.
