Q & A: Non-Compete Agreements

by NAILS Magazine | January 11, 2008 | Bookmark +

I’m writing my employee handbook and was wondering if I can state that when an employee has terminated his employment, he is not allowed to work 10 miles from the salon for one year. Thanks for any information on this topic.

Hi Marie,

Yes, that is something that you can state. It’s called a “non-compete agreement.” Include the non-compete agreement in the handbook, and make sure that both you and the employee sign the page. Keep a copy for yourself, and give one to the employee. Best wishes for your new salon!
