My favorite part of being an editor at NAILS Magazine
is that I’m expected to visit a salon every month and get a nail service. By my count, I’ve been to 25 salons in the year and a half that I’ve been with the magazine (I tend to visit multiple salons if I’m out of town, like for a beauty tradeshow).
My favorite service? Any food or drink-inspired specialty pedicure. I’ve been treated to an invigorating Mojito Pedicure at Havana Nights Nails & Spa
in Chicago and a decadent Mudslide Pedicure at Mimosa
in Hermosa Beach, among others. Plus, I’ve collected a ton of other specialty pedicure recipes since I’ve been in charge of the Signature Services column for the magazine — it’s the column in which we feature step-by-steps to specialty pedicures from salons around the country. If you’ve got a recipe you want featured in the magazine, just send me an e-mail
I’m also in charge of our newly launched Style section (it debuted in our February
Issue), which means I handle anything and everything related to salon fashion, décor, and nail art (another favorite topic of mine — I just got my first set of nail toenail art in December and loved all of the compliments I received). Definitely feel free to contact me if you have any story ideas for the style section, or if you want me to visit your salon the next time I’m in your town (25 visits and counting…).
