Blueprint of a First Year

The Home Stretch

by NAILS Magazine | April 18, 2008 | Bookmark +

We’re in the home stretch to the salon opening. The elevator and water feature on the first floor will be fully installed next week. Almost all of the tile work is completed on the second floor, and the storefront sign will be in place about a month from now. The other major task will be the furniture installation. After that, the building will pretty much be ready for business. We just sent the employee manual to the printer, and we’re doing employee training on May 19th. I think we’ll be open June 1 for sure.

I’ve been doing a lot of PR stuff lately. Tonight, I’ll be attending an Us Weekly function to promote OPI and the salon. I have a couple more meetings planned with Harris Shepard, our public relations guy.

We have all of our licenses, like our sellers permit to sell retail and our business license, so we’re completely legit. It’s also great that our tax returns are finally making sense. I incorporated the salon three years ago and the returns were all over the place for most of that time because we couldn’t confirm a location or really get started. Incorporating it will come in handy though when we’re ready to franchise.
