California Bill Requires Translation of MSDS into Vietnamese

by NAILS Magazine | May 16, 2008 | Bookmark +

There’s a bill pending in the California State Assembly right now called the Vietnamese Nail Worker Information Act that would require manufacturers of professional-use nail care products to provide MSDS in Vietnamese. If the bill — introduced by State Assemblyman Van Tran — passes, the provisions would take effect on January 1, 2010.

Says Tran: “A significant portion of the nail professionals providing services in salons in California are of Vietnamese origin. This bill is intended to ensure that manicurists receive adequate information of the substances they use in the workplace in a language they can understand.”

Supporters of the bill include OPI, CND, and a number of labor unions.
