You Know You’re Obsessed When ...

Well, I’m not sure if it’s Athena Elliott’s constant posting about how great it’s been working out for her, or if my brain is just on overdrive trying to think up new ways to take the world — or at least Visalia — by surprise, but last night I had a weird dream.

You know how dreams are. I can’t tell you what the dream was about, but at some point it involved a turkey — a full-on, roasted, picture-perfect Thanksgiving Day turkey fully MINXED. Minxed in a zebra pattern, only instead of being black and white, it was brown and white. That’s what threw me off.

You can’t do a brown and white zebra!

You know, Minx. The fancy new nail coating that is some sort of weird heat-sensitive vinyl coating for your nails, like that shrink wrap stuff you put on remote control airplanes, only prettier. It was featured on the cover of NAILS not too terribly long ago and Beyoncé keeps showing up places with it on her nails.

So imagine how bizarre a roasted turkey would look if it were completely Minxed in zebra print.

And that’s how I know I have managed to go completely round the bend.

After seeing that turkey, I woke up in the middle of the night and all I could think was, “Dang! That must mean something! I should order that Minx stuff!” I was all ready to get up and order it right then and there at 3 a.m., but I managed to talk myself down. I finally got back to sleep and managed to wait until 1 p.m. before ordering the basic kit.

Now, Athena has been reporting to the NailTech Mailing list that it has really taken off for her. We get updates at least weekly from her to let us know how she’s marketing it and how it’s working for her. Maybe that’s what got into my brain. I don’t know.

But I did suck it up and order a kit — although I have no intention of putting it on any turkeys.
