Something Old, Something New?

At a recent press event held by Tweezerman Professional the company told me about its Free Sharpening Policy & Guarantee for its salon tweezers. “We sharpen our implements that have become dull through normal use free for as long as the implement can be resharpened. No shipping and handling. No processing fees. If the nipper springs break, we replace the springs at no charge,” the guarantee states.

I don’t know about you, but this seems like a very timely reminder to me. I’ve been using all sorts of money-saving tips and tricks that I previously would have been too embarrassed to take advantage of (get over it, I know! Coupons — I’m all about them. A clothing swap party where I swap old clothes and accessories with my girlfriends — where do I RSVP? Riding the subway in Los Angeles — I honestly didn’t know it existed.)

I’ve heard that in times like these, some of the changes people make actually stick even when times improve; for example, I started carpooling to work a day a week with a co-worker starting almost a year ago, and I plan on continuing this no matter the gas prices. It’s just efficient, and it gives my car and my stress levels a break for a day.

I hope some of the positive changes — the ones that save time, money, the environment (or all three!) — like refurbishing perfectly usable products to make them like new again, stick with us as we come out the other end of this recession.
