Viet Voice

Just the Beginning

Hi everyone,

My name is Kim and I am the new associate editor for VietSALON Magazine. I have actually been with NAILS and VietSALON for almost three years designing layouts and taking photos. However, as the beauty industry changes, Vietnamese salons do, too, and that's where I come in. Viet{salon}Voice was created with the intention of following this progress and the innovative techniques, products and ideas that are shaping Viet salons as we know them.

As a second generation Vietnamese-American, I understand the difficulties and challenges that the first generation has faced to get us where we are today, from starting life from scratch and struggling through the language barrier to finding a niche in the beauty industry and passing the business, skills, and a high level of dedication down to the next generation. I want help give these continuing stories — your stories — a voice.

So I hope you tune in and witness this progression (as I move from behind my camera to in front of it), please share stories and ideas of your own, and we'll take it from there.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions and concerns about any or all things related to the salon. I'm here for you.

If you happen to read this in time, I'm attending the Premiere Orlando International Beauty Show, so hopefully I'll see you there! I'll be the one with all of the camera equipment.

-Kim
