Premiere Orlando 2009

by NAILS Magazine | June 29, 2009 | Bookmark +

Earlier this month, I went to the Premiere Orlando International Beauty Event; in my three years at the magazine, this is the first time I’ve attended this show, and I felt an energy and excitement there that I haven’t felt at any of the other beauty shows I’ve been to. The festivities kicked off at the BeautyTech barbeque Saturday (June 6) night, then was followed by two full days on the show floor.

We filmed several new videos for NAILStv, which you can check out here (Eye Kandy glitter eye makeup), here (Migi Nail Art Pens), and here (salon owners weighing in on the economy).

We also took a lot of pictures at the show. I’m sharing some of them here. Check our September issue of the magazine for more coverage from this show and IBS Las Vegas.

Iryna Giblett of Iryna Giblett Nail Academy in Stockholm, Sweden, and her husband Bob enjoyed socializing with other techs and promoting their new Imaginailtion Magazine at the BeautyTech.com networking barbeque the night before the show began.

VietSALON associate editor Kim Pham (right) met Warwick, R.I.-based nail tech and VietSALON columnist Amy Oung at the BeautyTech.com networking barbeque.

Medicool’s Steve Wallace helped customers find the right electric file at his booth.

Janet McCormick (left) and Terri Lundberg answered questions about how to become a medical nail technician.

Crowds gathered to watch a demo at the OPI booth.

(left to right) Dave, Bev, and Michael Moss introduce their new brand Orgasm Cosmetics, which has a line of professional polishes, to the beauty scene.

Ryan Wolf stands by her likeness at the booth for NailEZEE, a family-owned company that sells nail treatments whose branding is based on the family’s three sisters.

NSI president Rick Slack pours me a drink at the launch party for the company’s Illusion Soak-Off Gels.

Lynn Lammers placed first (veteran level) in the Salon Success competition with these nails.

CND introduced its Citrus Manicure with elegant displays and demos.

Jotasox  (a disposable sock that helps foot lotions absorb) co-founders Jody Hagberg (left) and Tara Widegren take a moment away from their busy booth to pose for the camera.

Ami McClure won first place (veteran) in the Design Sculpture competition for these purple-and-gold stilettos.

Margaret Pak (left), director of marketing and creative services, and Zaida Mannetta, sales associate, helped man the Dashing Diva booth.
