Parties vs. Open Houses

by NAILS Magazine | November 17, 2009 | Bookmark +

With the holiday season swiftly approaching, it’s great timing that I received an ecstatic e-mail from a salon owner who just threw her first successful holiday theme party: the “Bewitching Bash” in honor of Halloween. “In the past we have done holiday open houses. We never had that great of a turn out. Then we thought of doing a p.j. party. It was a HUGE success,” says Jennifer Veremis of The Beauty Lounge Inc. in Elmhurst, Ill.

“I had a client come in who is an astrology reader. All of the girls at the salon wanted to have a chart done with her. The best part of the party was that our clients thought it sounded like so much fun that they invited their friends! We had new clients getting services and existing clients trying services they had not tried at the salon before. A long-time hair client received a facial, reflexology, and pedicure. She loved it and she would definitely book again.”

Do any of you have salon holiday parties planned? What’s your take on whether parties or open houses work better? What’s been your best theme party to date?
