The Color of 2010…Turquoise

by NAILS Magazine | December 15, 2009 | Bookmark +

Color authority Pantone LLC has picked turquoise — a color it says embodies the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green — as its color of the year for 2010. Whether envisioned as a tranquil ocean surrounding a tropical island or a protective stone warding off evil spirits, turquoise (Pantone 15-5519) is a color that most people respond to positively, Pantone says, adding that it’s universally flattering and translates easily to fashion. Because of its versatility, turquoise is a great accent color in jewelry, purses, shoes, hair accessories, and nail polish for women, and ties, shirts and sportswear for men. “Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that turquoise represents an escape to many — taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

I have to say, I like this color choice. If you want to try it out in your salon, I recommend these cool veined turquoise enhancements that are made with both acrylic and gel. What do you think? Will you recommend turquoise to your clients in 2010?
