Merry Christmas to Me

So this year was going along quite nicely and at an acceptable pace and then all of a sudden, somewhere along the line, I got it in my head to go back to calling myself a "salon owner" and I signed a lease. Ever since then the days have been whizzing by at something like warp 9.8 which, for those non-Star Trek geeks out there, is incredibly fast.

And so it should be no surprise to any of us that sometime last week it occurred to me that all the various present-buying holidays celebrated among my personal clan were so close there was no way I had time to go shopping. Not to mention that I have, once again, managed to open my own salon on a shoestring budget and am now staring down Christmas with an empty checking account and just a hint of "High Noon" playing in the background.

Oh good grief, what am I getting the BF? Forget for a moment the issue of money — I have no clue what he wants or needs. I mean, other than the twin-diesel trawler...

So, while I was frantically combing the Internet last week for a present for the BF, I may have just happened to swing by Dell.com. I mean, the BF doesn't really need a computer, but they do sell stuff other than computers ... but, OK, mostly they sell computers. In fact, mostly, they sell laptops that feature cases in OPI polish colors. So I may have taken the time to customize a new laptop. You know, just to see what it would cost. After all, this laptop is actually, umm, almost 3? And let's face it, that's like 120 in computer years!

I was good though. I didn't hit that "submit" button. I added it to my wish list. Even though it's only going to cost me like $23 a month on my Dell preferred account. (Yes, I know, that's $23 a month for the rest of my life! But I already told you about the grasshopper thing!)

So what do y'all think? Think I've been a good girl this year? Don't you think I deserve a new laptop?

In the meantime, while I wait for UPS to deliver the BF's present, I have about an hour and a half to finish filling out those Christmas cards and hopefully, if I get them mailed tonight, most of them will reach their destinations before Friday.

At least Michelle came by this morning and dropped off a plate of cookies and fudge to keep me going through my last-minute chores! Thanks Michelle!
