Things You Can Do With Your Titles

by NAILS Magazine | February 26, 2010 | Bookmark +

I was invited to participate in a fashion photography workshop two days ago. Not as a photographer or model but as a stylist — nail stylist that is.

My call time was 9 a.m., but I always try to be early, so I arrived at 8:45 a.m. and was guided to my area. The shoot was at a private home built in the 1800s. It was a rather large shoot: six models, two key make-up/hairstylists with three assistants, two wardrobe stylists with one assistant, the photographer and his assistant, at least six workshop attendees, a Belgium journalist, and me. (And I could have really used an assistant on this gig.) The home owners were present as well.

It was a really great day, although I didn’t take a break from manicuring all day and the shoot didn’t wrap till 7 p.m. But the point of this story is how well received I was on this shoot because of my titles. By the end of the day even the homeowner was asking me questions about how I got to be the world champion and what I was going to do next. The journalist was extremely interested in interviewing me for his spread and the key make up artist offered me a job as a participant in a wedding package that she offers. So if you are interested in pursuing the same path as me, and wondering what it could get you, this is just one direction that you can go.
