So here I am. Thinking about what I am going to do after September 18^th (graduation date). While I have no definite plans, I do have short-term and long-term goals.

 

Here are some short-term goals: I think I am going to try to go to nail salons here in Chicago to see if they offer nail tech internships. I saw a posting for an internship at school and this looks like something I should look into. I am going to reach out to at least 5 salons. I will also ask if they do informational interviews — this is an interview where I am not going for the job, just collecting information on the salon and they should give me feedback as to how I interviewed.

 

I am also going to start practicing on people that I know. Practice makes perfect and I want to be perfect! So I am going to seek out family and friends for manis, pedis, acrylics, gels, wraps — whatever they want. Everyone is coming to Chicago for the 4^th of July, so I figure this is the time to get some future clients and great practice.

 

As far as long-term goals, I would love to open a nail salon, create a non-profit that works with women who suffer from domestic violence and develop a nail care product line. Sound like a lot? Well not for me — I plan on doing all of this within 5-10 years.

 

As I continue in Tricoci’s nail technology program, I will continue to work toward my goals. I will constantly keep you updated on what goals I reach and/or how close I am to reaching a goal.
