Shootout in Brooklyn Nail Salon

by NAILS Magazine | October 26, 2010 | Bookmark +

On Saturday Ferris Jones, a female off-duty police officer, was getting her hair done at Sabine’s Hallway, a hair and nail salon in Brooklyn, when a 19-year-old came in brandishing a gun and attempting to rob the counter.

Jones showed her firearm and ordered the man to freeze, when he opened fire. His shots went wide, and Jones aimed her gun at the robber’s gun and actually shot it out of his hands.

The wounded man broke the front window to escape and was apprehended later that night. You can read the full story here at the New York Daily News.

In other crime news, a woman in San Diego, Calif., tried to rob a La Jolla nail salon with an air rifle, but was tackled by the owner and an employee, police said.

The woman tried to rob Dan’s Nail Spa and several customers at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, San Diego police officer David Stafford said.

As the woman tried to leave, the owner and an employee tackled her, and some witnesses helped hold her until police arrived, said Stafford. You can read about it on San Diego’s local news website.

What would you do if your salon was robbed? Do you have protocol established and does everyone at your salon know what to do?
