Nail Notebook: Assignment #6

by NAILS Magazine | November 22, 2010 | Bookmark +

Is your notebook looking amazing? What more could it need? How about you? That’s right it needs you! Potential clients could get a glimpse of you, current ones can find out things they may not know. Let’s start with a bio.

Your bio is your career story. You can include anything you want that is relevant to your nail career. Some ideas for things to include would be the year you began doing nails. This may or may not be the year you graduated from beauty school. You could choose to include the name of your school if you want to add detail. Did you get a perfect score on your boards or graduate at the top of your beauty school class? Put that in there. Next, you could add any extended education classes you’ve taken. Better yet, are you an educator? A CND Master, a Minx master, etc. Put that in there. Have you won any competitions? Best smile line in your class, Strut Your Stuff on BeautyTech.com or any contest where nails were involved. Add other accomplishments you may have. Consider finishing with a goal or mission statement.

Now let’s add contact info to the same page, like the salon’s address and phone number. Do you give out an e-mail? Do you have a website? How about your Facebook address? If you have Facebook page did you know you could get a vanity url for your business page? For example mine is facebook.com/FingerNailFixer, which is much easier to share and remember. The link to customize the url is http://www.facebook.com/username/. Do you tweet info that would be relevant to clients such as appointment openings or specials? If so, add your Twitter address.

Now people know a little bit about your career, how to stay in touch with you, and where you are online. To finish off this page consider a photo of yourself. It can be a casual headshot, you doing nails, or a professional picture. Print your page on the paper of your choice, stick it in a page protector if you like, and add it to your notebook!
