Blueprint of a First Year

Karyn's Bio

My name is Karyn Lenhart, and I've just recently obtained my manicuring license in the state of California. I have been working full time as a certified massage therapist and licensed esthetician  for the last 7 1/2 years. I made the decision to go back to school and get my manicuring license because I no longer had a reliable and well-educated nail tech to refer my clients to. I was fortunate enough to be able to blog about my experience in the student blog section of Nailsmag.com. In December of last year I moved out of the salon I had been working in for the last two year due to professional conflicts with the owner. I moved into a private office in Roseville, Calif., that allows me to work the hours I need to, see the clients I want to, and provide the services I am educated and licensed to do, all in a relaxing environment that my clients have told me they prefer.

It's been a challenge to set out on my own after all the years of working for other people in their salons. Yes, my space is small, but it allows me to provide a more personal experience that my clients are grateful for. I do have a steady group of clients, but my current focus is getting new clients to come in for nail services. I definitely have the skills and time to expand my business and to welcome new clients into my practice. My website, www.bodyandskinbykaryn.com,  is up and running and is getting a lot of hits due to some wonderful friends and clients on Facebook that keep reposting links to it, recommending me over and over again. I hope that is just the start of what I plan to do to get my business off and running.

I am looking forward to being able to post here about my trials and successes and to hear all your feedback. It was so rewarding to be able to do my student blog, and what I got out of the experience was invaluable to me as an aspiring nail tech. I am hoping to have a similar journey here with Blueprint of a First Year. For now my business only has one person running the show, me. Who knows what the year will bring and where this all will take me.
