Beauty for Good: Join the Hello Gorgeous! Team

by NAILS Magazine | March 31, 2011 | Bookmark +

Hello Gorgeous! of Hope is a non-profit organization that gives free services to cancer patients and survivors. Started in South Bend, Ind., in 2006 by Kim and Michael Becker, it gives women going through chemotherapy treatment a “day of beauty” aboard its mobile salon. This includes a mani/pedi, facial, massage, hair and wig consultation, and re-education on how to use beauty products to counter the effects of chemotherapy. Because services are offered at no cost, Hello Gorgeous! relies on fundraisers, volunteers, and donations.

When we caught up with Kim at Chicago’s America’s Beauty Show, she told us they’ve launched a salon-affiliate program. Right now, it’s only in Indiana and Illinois (there are 10 salons in the program so far), but they’re hoping to expand. Their goal is to have two salons in every city performing Hello Gorgeous! services. The organization trains its affiliates on special considerations, like how to trim a wig, etc. They are taking applications for full-service commission salons that want to become affiliates.
