New York Yankee Catcher’s Nails

by NAILS Magazine | April 20, 2011 | Bookmark +

According to ESPN, Yankee catcher Russell Martin has recently taken to painting his nails bright orange with white stripes down the center.

Many catchers in baseball have historically painted their nails white to make their signs to the pitcher more visible. In the same ESPN article, Miller explains his nails saying, “On my off day, I went for a manicure. I used to use White-Out, but I was afraid they might blend in with the uniform paints so I decided to go orange now. Now, they don’t have an excuse if they miss a sign.”

Miller says he’ll continue to get manicures with bright colors for games and joked he might get one with a maple leaf to celebrate his Canadian heritage.
