There’s probably a nail polish for every color and shade in the spectrum. Manufacturers have done a great job at creating themes and collections of
every color imaginable. But even then, finding the perfect pink pigment in your personal collection can be difficult. Many techs are not willing to spend their savings on the entire spectrum of color that may go bad before they can get through half the bottle.
Luckily, there’s an easy solution that you may already take advantage of in your salon — a great technique is to layer your polish and gel colors. Start experimenting with your current set of polish on nail tips. Whites will blend things lighter while blacks will darken your hues; mix in glitters to add sparkle. You’d be surprised at what colors you will come up with. Then urge your clients to try out your new blends. If they love what they see, you can send them home with two polishes they can experiment with themselves.
You can also layer gels and soak-off gels, but remember: acrylics to gels, soak-off gels to soak-off gel polish, all of these can be mixed and layered as long as you mix products of the same brand.
