Upgrades: Do-It-Yourself Episode!

I've spent a lot of time making upgrades to the salon. It's funny what a few do-it-yourself projects around the salon can change. I am huge fan of HGTV, and I'm always looking for ideas and tools to upgrade spaces on a budget. I would love to be able to hire a designer and let her have a run of the place. Since I don't have the budget for that, I search online and watch different shows. Let me tell you a bucket of paint or a can of spray paint can go further than you think.

When I started out I was so ready to just get started, but now I'm able to make small upgrades to give the salon a comfortable atmosphere. My clientele is slowly but surely growing. In the salon's immediate area, there are a number of other salons. I am always looking for ways to stand out and separate my salon. Everything seems to comes together when you have a mindset to succeed. Having a small boutique salon offers a private and quiet space for clients.

I also have scheduled a meeting with a local magazine to place an ad. Earlier, I placed an ad in the local newspaper but the results were not as I expected. I decided to go with the magazine. I noticed that the magazine was placed in locations I want to market such as medical offices, realtors, and boutiques. It is hard for me to go to each individual location, but since the magazine goes to each it will help me cover a large area. I look forward to the results being better. I also have found that placing Facebook ads has been a good marketing tool. The fact that you can make the ad to go to people by zip code helps a great deal.

So far I have planned events in the salon to welcome new clients. Every Saturday I have planned a special event, also an event for clients who send in referrals. Nothing big, just discounts on each day for new clients. If you have any ideas on marketing a small salon on a budget, I would love to hear from you.

The Society of Nail Techs has been great as a group, techs are networking with each other everyday. I truly enjoy connecting with them. It gives me an outlook on what other techs experience.
