Art ON Our Fingertips

Earlier this month, nail art aficionados were privy to a very original art exhibit. Called Nailphilia, it was a collaboration between British art house DegreeArt.com and some of the country’s most-recognized nail techs in the industry. Through every medium imaginable, the exhibition delved deep into the world of nails, merging fashion and art and redefining everything you thought you knew about the aesthetic of the fingertips, according to curator Ryan Lanji.

Joining DegreeArt.com artists were nail techs Sam Biddle, Antony Buckley, Sophie Hanson, Jenny Longworth, Sue Marsh, Megumi Mizuno, Marian Newman, Mike Pocock, Sophy Robson, and The Illustrated Nail. The event was sponsored by Sweet Squared and Scratch Magazine.

I wish I would have been able to see the exhibit with my own two eyes. (I’m sure many of you feel the same way.) But DegreeArt.com posted this video that helps bring a little bit of the nail magic to our computer screens. I hope you enjoy it. I know that I’m wishing we had something like this stateside.

Are you a London-based tech who got to attend Nailphilia? We’d love to hear your thoughts. Congrats to the team who put the exhibit on and to all those who contributed your talents.
