Beauty For Good: Style Me Hired

by NAILS Magazine | October 26, 2011 | Bookmark +

The national employment rate continues to stagnate at a crushing 9.1%, but there was good news on Monday, Sept., 26, when 100 unemployed women from the Philadelphia area received complete makeovers as winners of Style Me Hired, a community relations program created by salon owner Marc Voci.

Makeover winner Angela Allen from West Philadelphia has been unemployed for over two years. Fighting back tears, Allen was amazed at her makeover. “I am truly inspired by this experience,” she says.  “It’s given me a renewed sense of motivation to get a job. I thought everyone had forgotten about me, until now. Now, I believe that good things do happen.”

The Omni Hotel and The Career Wardrobe partnered with Voci, the owner of Marc Voci Salon and Colorbar.  “Makeovers are magic,” Voci says.  “Helping bring that magic of change to women who truly need help getting back into the workforce is our mission.”

Salons from across the region supported Voci’s mission to makeover 100 jobless women including Body Airbrush Company Spa and Salon, Salon Vendi Amo and Venus Beauty Academy, Seignoret Image Consulting Services, Siaani Salon, Salon Vanity and SignaCurl by Joseph Lentini, InDulge Hair Salon, and L.A. Hair.
