Today’s Buzzword Is Branding

Are you making plans for 2012 yet? Hopefully somewhere in the haze of holiday services your marketing wheels have been spinning. I plan to hit you with different ideas throughout January as well as asking for your help!

 

Branding is a big buzzword that should mean something to all of you, whether you choose to use a manufacturer to brand your salon or your own logo or tagline. I have been working on branding for many years and it continues to evolve. My dream is that any nail tech that sees a turtle with think warm thoughts about nails. ;)

 

This year’s branding goal is clothing. I have been considering a uniform top of some sort in a few different colors for work. What do you wear to work? Is this a good time for a change or does what you do work for you? Why or why not? Have any of you tall and fluffy techs found a quality source of nice uniform tops? The closest I seem to be able to get via Google is a scrub top and those are short. I'm hoping to find something in the 30- to 34-inch length range.

 

I am not interested in the hassle of my own product line, especially when the salon is my side job from education and not my primary. I've considered a private label Chapstick just for fun and easy marketing though. I let the products I already use do their branding thing for me and just tie us together. What are you doing? How's that working for you? Are any changes needed? When was the retail last dusted?

 

What are your branding plans for 2012? How do you plan to make yourself more recognizable by what you do or what you do it with?
