China Was Fabulous!

Wow, that does look like a heck of a winter storm Jill. I am very familiar with the fallout from bad weather on my schedule too. I know that sometimes even when we put forth our best effort things happen to sabotage our efforts. Mother Nature seemed to have a hand in you not meeting your goal this time. I wonder if you had not had the storm to contend with if you would have been closer to your goal. Only being short by four though is great considering how many of your guests already had purchased your packages.

We just have two weeks to go until the end of our referral contest and so far Rachael and I are working hard on trying to finish strong, though I think that one of the hair or skin teams is going to ultimately win. They have been neck and neck this last week. I had an opportunity that came up suddenly that could have definitely slowed our progress as a team. Though I wouldn’t have missed it for the world, I know that had I stayed home I could have been able to help our numbers. Sometimes we have to look at the opportunity and decide if it is worth it to not meet a short-term goal right now, in order to meet one that you have had long term.

Here is some of the team we were working with.

I had the opportunity to go to China and work at the Guangzhou Beauty Show and also be part of the international education team that led a Hand and Nail Harmony educator training there in Guangzhou. It was an amazing experience that I will treasure and I’m grateful to every at Hand and Nail Harmony for the opportunity. I have been working steadily towards my goal of becoming an international educator for many years. This year I finally got to go overseas for the first time. It was simply incredible.

The beauty show was very high energy and the nail techs were just hungry for knowledge and new techniques and products. It was just like the shows here in the U.S. — everyone trying to get as much knowledge out of their time at the show as possible. The show was huge! There were several halls full of vendors and stage presentations. It was awesome. The people we worked with were amazing and so helpful since the other educators working with me didn’t speak Chinese either. They were so very gracious and helped to translate for not only the show attendees but for us as well. I am very grateful to them for all of their hospitality; it would not have been such a great experience if not for their help. 

Here are four of us educators teaching the training.

The training was held at the brand new Yi Ni Nail School there in Guangzhou. The founder Ken Zheng is a simply amazing nail artist with an unlimited dedication and passion for all things nails. The educators, training attendees, distributors, and I were treated to the grand opening ceremony/ribbon cutting on the first morning. I have never seen such a wonderful display. There are traditional blessing beliefs for new businesses and I am honored to have been witness to the ceremony. It was breathtaking to see and I made sure to touch one of the lions for luck.

The training was for nail techs from all over Asia. They came to be trained and tested to become Harmony educators. Over 135 people from Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Hong Kong were all represented. The trainers consisted of the founder of Hand and Nail Harmony Danny Haile, Antony Buckley from England, Ghenna Gonzalez from Mexico, Krasimira Petrova Krumova from Bulgaria, and me. They are all extremely talented individuals with a passion for sharing their skill and experience.  The training was very big and everyone worked very hard to learn all of the concepts and product knowledge we taught over the three days. I am very thankful to the translators for their help in making sure that everyone understood the things we were teaching. I also can’t thank enough the people setting up and attending the training, for without their dedication and hard work it would not have been successful.

So far this year my short-term goals may not be getting met but many of the goals I have been working towards for years I am finally accomplishing. It is a great feeling.
