Nail Tech Lisa Logan Honored at Essence “Best in Black Beauty Awards”

Celebrity manicurist Lisa Logan was honored at Essence Magazine’s first annual “Best in Black Beauty Awards” on May 8, 2012. The lifestyle publication for African-American women created the awards to honor beauty innovators who are influencing what’s now and next. Other honorees included Ted Gibson, head stylist on “What Not To Wear” and Janis Smith-Gomez, vice president of marketing for Johnson & Johnson. (Get a complete list of honorees here.)

Lisa’s many career highlights include applying custom Minx to Beyoncé for her performance at the presidential inauguration, being named “Best Manicurist” in Star Magazine’s Beauty Awards issue, and designing her own “Minx Professional for Lisa Logan” collection last year. Lisa also created the distinctive nail fashion for Italian Vogue’s March 2012 cover feature photographed by the legendary Steven Meisel.

I’ve personally met Lisa at several industry events (including the International Salon & Spa Expo in Long Beach, Calif., in 2011, pictured above), and I’m always impressed with her down-to-earth personality. She’s also extremely talented as a Minx stylist. She put a great set of her own designed Minx on me at that show in a matter of minutes. I love to see such a worthy  nail tech be recognized in this way.

I also just found out that Lisa has recently added yet another landmark to her career: She officially opened her own salon in Harlem, “The Nail Suite by Lisa Logan,” where she offers the newest and best in nail fashion. (Appointments can be made at lisanailsuite[at]gmail.com.)
