Blueprint of a First Year

What happened to the appointment-only days?

by NAILS Magazine | May 29, 2012 | Bookmark +

Today a woman from a local business to whom I'd previously given the salon-marketing postcard came in for a gel manicure. She mentioned that she had stopped by three times when we were not there. Business is quiet in the morning and we know the value of sitting in the salon. However we find the afternoons are more fruitful, so we usually are here after 12 p.m. until 6-ish.

This brings me to a blog I recently read about how discount salons' no appointment needed walk-in policies have ruined the need to call and make an appointment. We have a note on our door that says, "If we have missed you please call us." It’s frustrating, especially when I reflect back on my years in the salon back in the '80s when I was totally booked, and everyone had to make appointments. What happened to those days?
