Premiere Orlando: Minxed

by Kimberly Pham | June 25, 2012 | Bookmark +
I’ve been Minxed! Well, one finger has, at least. Crystal Rice, CMP, applied this as-tame-as-I-could-find Minx design on my extra short nail. Minx is a heat-activated nail coating that comes in many different designs. In my application process below, you’ll see some of the designs on Crystal’s nails, using Lisa Logan's Signature Collection combined with a few different transparent layers of Minx: Silver Giraffe, Gunmetal Dissolve, and Minxlusion Gradient.

First she prepped my nail. She warmed the sheet of Minx under a heat lamp to get it ready for application. Then she applied the appropriately-sized Minx design to my finger and flattened it out with an orangewood stick, removing any bubbles or air in the process.

It was then placed under the heat where it pretty much melted onto my nail, was pressed, and then the excess nail coating was removed. She filed my nail and I was ready to go.

It lasted me about a week, average wear time is between five and eight days. Minx does not require a base coat nor top coat, and Minx does not advocate the use of a gel top coat. But for clients who would like their designs to last longer, you can offer a gel top coat as an add-on.
