OPI Lacquer Bottle to Be Featured at Trademark Expo

by NAILS Magazine | September 25, 2012 | Bookmark +

Next month the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is hosting its annual USPTO Trademark Exposition in Alexandria, Va. And OPI’s lacquer bottle will be one of the select brands featured at the event. The Expo, which features unique and distinctive trademarks that relate to shape, sound, and color has invited OPI to sit alongside other distinctive trademarks including the Coca-Cola bottle, the Hershey’s kiss, the Perrier bottle, and the Tiffany blue box. That’s quite some company to keep!

“OPI is excited and proud to have been invited to participate in this important national exhibition,” says George Schaeffer, OPI CEO and designer of the OPI bottle and cap. “Like the Coke or Perrier bottle, the OPI nail lacquer bottle shape is instantly recognized by women around the world from simply its distinctive silhouette.”

“We are the only salon brand of nail lacquer that has consistently advertised our bottle to consumers for the last 25 years,” Schaeffer continued. “That awareness and nurturing of the bottle image, along with the high quality and fun product we sell, has resulted in this wonderful recognition from the USPTO.”

The iconic OPI nail lacquer bottle was first introduced to the public in 1989 and is now sold in over 100 countries. According to the company, they sell over 100 million annually. Our hats are off to Schaeffer and the entire OPI team. What a cool recognition!
