Homecoming Party

I didn’t get around to writing my blog post on Thursday as usual. I had a surprise visitor. One of my all-time favorite clients moved to Utah earlier this year.

She and her hubby have been telling me they were going to do this — someday — for as long as I’ve known them — about 10 years. All the planets came into alignment for them earlier this year and they finally hitched up their wagons and headed east.

I was pretty excited for them, as they’d been looking forward to making the move for so long. But it’s funny how some people just leave holes in your whole world when they aren’t where you’re used to them being.

This particular client was also my most likely to become my competition model. And I was going to give her the dubious honor of being the person who got to sort all those rhinestones by color... I will never buy rhinestones in bulk in assorted color packages again! But it’s a tedious, time-consuming job that requires good eyesight and exceptional concentration skills. I don’t have the time for the project and my minions don’t have the eyesight or the concentration.

It was not only a surprise but a joyous reunion when Dave and Naomi walked through my door on Thursday afternoon with the news that they are not merely visiting "home," they have returned for good!

I am ecstatic — not so much that their move didn’t work out as planned — but I’m looking forward to having a model and getting those rhinestones sorted out.
