Managing editor Sree Roy and I were invited to attend a demonstration and luncheon at G the Body Art Professional headquarters in Torrance, Calif., yesterday. I was particularly happy about this field trip, as we were essentially going to learn about and play with glitter — on my birthday.

The team at G the Body Art Professional turned the entire demonstration into a reason to celebrate. Glitter was in the air as we viewed the different kits, ranging from Basic to Elite ($195–$795). Each comes with a different amount of stencils, brushes, DVD, and a look book. The fashionable and fun stencils are made with mesh and are intricately detailed so that every crevice of a peacock feather or scale on a dragon can be filled in with glitter. As someone who loves color and shine, I loved seeing the rainbow of colors and Swarovski crystals available to add on to the designs, if your clients so desire.

The designs are just as easy to apply as they are to fall in love with. Simply select a stencil, clean the skin, add glue, let dry, and brush with glitter. Influenced by luxury jewelry designs at Neiman Marcus and Saks 5th Avenue, these jewel-toned, ultra-fine glitters can emulate jewelry or actual tattoos. For formal occasions such as proms or weddings, larger stencils can be applied across your clients’ shoulders, back, or chest. Even children can join in on the fun, as the glue works on even the most sensitive skin.

You can bend stencils, mix and match from different kits, or add onto existing tattoo art accordingly. Sree got a dragonfly on her hand, and I got the Champaign Dreams design meant for a necklace, applied as a bracelet. The shade I am wearing is made with actual silver and is part of the company’s luxe line. You can play with ombre shades or add crystals for further impact. Tattoos stay on for a week and are waterproof. In short, this is an easy, quick, and profitable upsell. Apply these to clients while they are getting a manicure or pedicure at not much cost, and without taking up a lot of time. You can also sell small retail kits for clients to do touch ups on their own.

Thank you to our friends at G the Body Art Professional for sharing these gorgeous designs with us. You can learn more here. For additional pictures, make sure and follow us on Instagram @nailsmagazine.
