George Schaeffer, OPI founder and CEO recently gave an interview to Fox Business News in which he highlighted the success of OPI and talked about the current state of the nail polish industry. According to Schaeffer, nail lacquer is seen as an “accessible and affordable luxury in today’s economy. Women want to go to the salon and get away from the problems of the world.”

“We try to stay ahead of the game,” said Schaeffer. “Our colors are definitely the best and the GelColor line opens it up to the professional market.”

He also indicated that OPI owes much of its success to the quality and intensity of the colors and collections, which are two of the brand’s biggest trademarks. He offered some insight into how OPI has managed to remain profitable saying that “consumers are willing to pay more for high quality. When you get OPI on your nails, you know its quality.”

According to Fox Business News’ latest market report, U.S. nail polish sales are up by as much as 39% in 2012.
