Speaking of great holiday gifts for nail techs, I have some great news for all of you nail art fanatics out there: The nail art documentary titled NAILgasm that we told you about earlier this year is now complete and available for purchase, just in time for you to rent it as a gift for yourself, a coworker, or a nail art fanatical client.
I watched the 35-minute documentary yesterday, and I loved the way it portrayed nail art as a universal means of self-expression that transcends boundaries. The filmmaker, who goes by the name of Brass, includes interviews with nail artists from all over the world, including the U.S., the U.K., and Japan. I loved how the focus is on nail artists and why they create what they create, and I was thrilled to see a lot of familiar faces in the film from stories I’ve written over the years for NAILS Magazine and fantastic nail artists that we’ve featured in our own pages. She spotlights professionals, bloggers and other hobbyists, and even the occasional manufacturer. (And I even get a cameo too, as do some stats from our annual NAILS Big Book.) It’s a lovely film that’s very timely.
