I love the trend of nail art exhibits open to the public, and I'm thrilled to see it continue through 2013.
This month, 24k Studios in San Francisco takes a unique spin on the nail art exhibit, fusing it with jewelry. In a press release, the studio says, "The dynamic innovations of nail art parallel the one-of-a-kind wearable art that is being created by emerging jewelers. Incorporating sculptural techniques, found objects, and unorthodox materials these jewelers are also inventing new forms of personal ornament."
We've long said "treat your nails as jewels, not tools," and I have noticed lately more integration of nails and jewelry (such as the real nail file jewelry set I blogged about last month, nail polish incorporating real gemstones, and I recently received a sample of Nail Veils that were literally created by a jewelry designer), so this exhibit seems to bring together two accessories that are a natural fit.
The opening reception is Friday, Jan. 25 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at 2400 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110. Following the reception, Selected works will be installed in the storefront windows facing 24th Street from January 26-February 17. Personal viewings can be scheduled by appointment.
